Andy Cohen scammed by cyber-criminals

Andy Cohen, the hit television and radio host revealed the scheme during a December episode of his Daddy Diaries podcast. We can all learn from his mistake.

Cohen explained that the scam began after he had lost a card. 

Not long after his card went missing, the Watch What Happens Live! Host said he received an email alerting him of potential fraud on his bank account. 

Because he was missing the card, Cohen said he believed the two were connected. 

However, when he went to log in to his bank account, something seemed suspicious. 

“I logged into my bank account, and it asked me for my Apple ID and password, and I was like, ‘OK, this never happens,’” Cohen said. 

“I think somehow, my logging in through whatever this site was gave them access to my bank app,” he said. 

Not long after, Cohen said he received a call that appeared to be from his bank. 

Upon answering the call, he said the other person on the line claimed they were contacting him about a fraud alert.

“They were naming credits and charges I had made because they clearly had access to my account,” Cohen said. 

“What I should have done is say, ‘Can I call you back?’ or ‘Can I go to the bank and handle this.’”
